Description

  • French oak
  • Dark cherry
  • Toasted almond
  • Fine tannins

"Delightfully fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows dark cherry, sweet plum, olive, clove and toasted almond characters on the nose. The palate is equally appealing with excellent weight and silky flow, wonderfully framed by fine tannins, making it flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2024

Shaky Bridge Pioneer Series wines are crafted to deliver a high quality wine that delivers on quality but is exceptional value. We don’t believe in compromising on quality at any pricing tier.

Shaky Bridge Wines is located in the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Basin of Central Otago, New Zealand. Our location situated below the Southern 45th Parallel is the southern most winegrowing region on the globe. Our location is ideally suited to the creation of complex and floral Pinot Noir with character that offers both concentration of flavour and precision from the acidity. All sourced from our estate vineyards and sustainably farmed, Shaky Bridge is family-owned and one of the original pioneer grape growers of Central Otago with beginnings back in 1973.

We destemmed and lightly crushed high quality Pinot Noir grapes from 3 different source blocks into stainless steel tanks for a cold soak period of several days. Primary fermentation took place at 30 C + temperatures, and were ‘pumped over’ or hand plunged gently several times a day to achieve optimal color and flavor extraction. Malolactic took place in a mixture of old and newer French Oak barrels, with a maturation period of 12 months in barrel. We lightly filtered the wine before bottling.
